WHY IS THE AQUA TREADMILL SO BENEFICIAL?

Aqua training is a power and endurance training which allows the horses to work in a safe, controlled environment, without the weight of the rider.

The horses work in a straight line with water filled up to a suitable height. The belt can be set to incline, for effective uphill training. All these factors work together to create the optimal strength exercise for a horse. By moving in the water, horses are getting power training without the high pressure on their tendons and skeleton, this is ideal for horses in recovery. Also the way of moving is different. By moving against the pressure of the water, horses start automatically using more of their back muscles and rear part muscles which gives them a stronger top line, more balance and coordination in all movements. Walk is the best gait for aqua training, because muscle groups will be evenly trained and balanced.

HOW DO THE HORSES FEET DO WITH THE WATER?

We have no problem with soft walls or soles that you normally associate with water. The Aqua Treadmill uses a salt water chlorination system which assists in preventing moisture from being pulled from the hoof. As a result, the water does not affect their feet in any negative way and actually helps their feet get better and grow faster by increasing the sole depth due to the increased circulation in the digital cushion If you do find that your horseshooves are too moist for some reason, we find that the issue can quickly be resolved through application of corn starch or talcum powder to the clean
soles.

HOW DO I INTRODUCE A HORSE TO THE TREADMILL?

This unit is above ground and has see-through entry and exit doors. We recommend that you familiarize your horse with the unit by walking him up and into it, closing the doors and letting him stand. When he is standing quietly, open the exit door and walk him out.

Repeat this until he is consistently quiet in the treadmill and then you can begin introducing the treadmill in motion and the water. We find that an average horse needs to be walked through the unit about three times to get comfortable with it and be ready to exercise in the unit.

WHAT CONDITIONS CAN THE TREADMILL BE USED TO TREAT?

The Aqua treadmill is a great tool for power and fitness training. It allows the horse to train muscles that is not possible to develop during a normal riding session. The muscle tone will increase and the horse will develop an even muscle mass. The Aqua treadmill is ideal to give the horse alternative training during competition season and it allows the horse to maintain good healthy muscles during off season.

For horses in recovery from injury or surgery, will have great benefits from working in the Aqua treadmill. By moving in water, the horse is allowed a good workout without the high pressure on tendons and skeleton.

DO THE HORSES PANIC WHEN IT STARTS TO FILL UP WITH WATER?

The salt water enters from the bottom and the fresh water trickles down the side from the rear of the horse. In both cases, the water enters the treadmill slowly and quietly so the horse has a chance to become accustomed to the water.
